OVERVIEW for Journeyman Electrician The Journeyman Electrician works with installing, repairing and maintaining solar set ups. The Journeyman Electrician reads and interprets blueprints to assist in working with electrical systems, and instrumentation. The Journeyman Electrician also is responsible for training Electrician Apprentices and unlicensed Electricians in preparation for completing apprenticeship and/or taking the California State Exam.

Requirementsgeneral

RESPONSIBILITIES for Journeyman Electrician Plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of unlicensed electricians and helpers engaged in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, instrumentation, and PLC panelsDevelops and maintains positive interpersonal relations with other department personnelPerforms regular maintenance of devices and equipment for testing and researchWorks with apprentice staff to better their electrical field knowledgeInterprets blueprints, schematics, specifications and electrical drawingsUses power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment associated with the electrical tradeInterprets power distribution applications, including substations, MCCs, and switchgearsSizes and installs rigid and ocal conduit systemsSizes, installs, and terminates cable and wirePerforms preventative maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFD’s), motors, pumps, generators, etc.Installs and/or repairs faulty equipment, wiring, or control devicesEnsures compliance with NEC, NFPA, Performance Work Statement and applicable regulationsPerforms other related

REQUIREMENTS High School diploma or equivalentCurrent California Electrical Journeyman’s licenseEnergy, Food & Beverage or other industry

experience a plus

Experience installing cable trays, loop checking, and troubleshooting

Travel

REQUIREMENTSTravel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
