Job Description

Primary

Responsibilities

Assists with the required processing of laboratory specimens including but not limited to verification of specimen identification, centrifugation, and pouring of aliquots. Maintains specified equipment, instruments, and supplies. Performs certain routine laboratory procedures, and operates specified laboratory instruments and equipment. Performs a variety of clerical and technical procedures to prepare specimens for processing, result review, and verification. Answers phones, and provides test information over the phone. Checks inventory of supplies, and notifies supervisor when ordering may be necessary. Maintains work areas in a neat, clean, and orderly manner. Operates computer for required applications. Complies with

requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies; adheres to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Performs other similar or related

duties as required or as directed in all sections, areas, and shifts. Works closely with technical and clerical staff to maintain communication related to patient tests/processing.

Required

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, with reading

skills verified at ninth grade level or better. Six months of laboratory

experience preferred. Must have good organizational

skills. Able to work independently on assigned tasks.
