GKN Sinter Metals – St. Marys is seeking an
experienced Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing management, particularly within the powdered metal industry. This role requires exceptional leadership
skills, a keen understanding of production processes, and a commitment to ensuring quality and efficiency.
Key
Responsibilities:Manage day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility, including production planning, scheduling, and quality control.Lead and develop a team of production supervisors, technicians, and operators to achieve production targets and quality standards. Act as a mentor and coach to support the professional development of your employees.Build strong relationships with your team members, promoting trust, respect, and open communication.Implement and maintain best practices for safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process.Implement lean methodologies, Six Sigma principles, or other improvement frameworks to streamline processes and reduce waste.Collaborate with other departments, such as engineering, maintenance, and logistics, to optimize workflows and resolve any production-related issues.Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.Ensure compliance with all regulatory
requirements and company policies related to manufacturing operations.Solicit feedback from employees on a regular basis, both regarding their
experiences and their overall satisfaction and engagement.
Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 5 years of
experience in manufacturing management, in the powdered metal industry is highly preferred.In depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and
experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.Proven leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and develop teams.Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment, and materials.Excellent problem-solving
skills and a strategic mindset.Exceptional communication
skills, both verbal and written.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
