The EEG Technician Trainee is instructed to perform EEGs on patients, using EEG standards as outlined by the American Medical EEG Association, while under the direct supervision of the Chief Technologist and staff. Responsibilities

The Eeg Technician Trainee

responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performs EEGs including portable recordings and is introduced to telephonic and remote EEGs Assists with electro cerebral silence recordings (ECS) for the determination of brain death and ICU monitoring Obtains all pertinent and relevant patient history for electroencephalographers Observes and assists while the electroencephalographers are reading tracings Answers phone inquires, schedules appointments, maintains files and charging for test procedures Maintains equipment and is responsible for self study in preparation to become an EEG technologist I

Reports to the Department Director or Vice President.

This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test

requirements. Please consult the Physical Demands Project SharePoint site or contact Risk Management/Employee Health for additional information. The occurrence to be in contact with bodily fluids from patients. Required to wear universal protective clothing when in contact with highly contagious and infectious patients. The occurrence to jam fingers and hands while maneuvering machines is highly feasible. Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and transferring patients. When applying electrodes, using collodion, caution should be used, since this substance is highly flammable and produces noxious fumes. To clean the scalp electrode, they are soaked in sodium hypochlorite, which has noxious fumes and tends to stain personal clothing.

Qualifications

Emphasis In Physical Or Biological Sciences Preferred Medical

experience preferred Must be able to communicate effectively in English (Verbal/Written)
