Description
The Nurse Assistant (NA) is a member of the MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center healthcare team and is under the direct supervision of a registered professional nurse. NAs provide holistic, compassionate, individualized, and effective patient care by assisting the patient with activities of daily living. Nurse Assistant (NA) also provide other physical, emotional, and spiritual needs consistent with the Mission of MercyOne, Vision of Patient Care Services, evidence-based standards of care, and established policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Assist with the physical needs of patients. Demonstrate ability to understand and follow directions. Provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to the patient population with respect to age specific and culturally sensitive needs as described in the department’s scope of service. Record and report information such as vital signs, intake and output, weight, and any behavioral changes to appropriate supervisory personnel. Maintain, assemble, and organize equipment needed for a safe secure environment. Assist in mealtime activities by delivering and removing patient trays and feeding patients. Complete routine daily assignments. Perform additional
duties as requested such as transporting patients and obtaining medications, supplies, and medical records from other departments. Demonstrate a caring practice by respecting the rights of an individual or group. Demonstrate ability to impact change within your department and with other departments. Demonstrate
skills as an effective team member. Respect the confidentiality of an individual or group, unless obligated to disclose under proper authorization or legal requirement. Maintain a safe environment of care. Communicate care effectively in both verbal and written form. Meet core nurse assistant competency
requirements and unit-specific competencies upon hire and annually, as appropriate to the practice area.

Position Purpose
Our inpatient Pediatric unit is such a special place to work. We could be taking care of a newborn baby being treated for jaundice, or a 17-year-old football player who broke their leg in a football game. Every day we come to work; we have the ability to make a positive difference in a child's life. One of the best feelings is when we see our kiddos going home happier and healthier than when they arrived at our floor.
What You Will Do
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients.
Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs and PCAs.
Facilitates communication with physicians, families and other team members.
Hours/schedule
9 fte, 7p-7a
every 3rd weekend
