Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an E-Filing Specialist in our Boston, New York, Washington DC or any of our California offices (Los Angeles; Menlo Park; Orange County; Sacramento; San Francisco; or Santa Monica).

Under the supervision of the Director of the West Coast Calendar Department, the E-filing Specialist will primarily be responsible for electronically filing and serving papers in various state and federal courts.

As time permits, the E-Filing Specialist will also enter litigation deadlines in Compulaw, the firm’s calendaring software, and assist the Court Services Department with other related tasks.

Responsibilities:Electronically files court documents in an accurate and timely manner.Researches e-filing procedures, local court rules, state and federal civil procedure, and case histories as needed.Reviews court filings for compliance with the applicable rules of procedure, including for correct format, signatures, required filing fees, chambers copies and certificates.Answers questions from attorneys regarding electronic filing and court procedures.Acts a liaison between the attorneys and the courts.Retrieves docket sheets and court records.Prepares correspondence to courtroom deputies, judges, law clerks and/or outside service(s) as necessary.Assists with service of pleadings and other documents in state and federal courts.Assists attorneys with registering for electronic filing accounts and trouble-shooting account access issues. Calendars litigation events in Compulaw based on review of court notifications, court rules, and attorney communications.Runs reports in Compulaw and MyView of upcoming case deadlines, upon request.Other

duties as assigned.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work

experience required.Minimum of five years prior similar related e-filing

experience that includes filing in various e-filing platforms such as CM/ECF, Odyssey, Tyler Technologies, TrueFiling and File & ServeXpress.Possesses strong customer service

skills and works well within a team.Ability to work under tight deadlines and to multitask under pressure.Knowledge and

experience researching California and other civil court procedure.Effective written and oral communication

skills.Ability to organize high-volume workload and effectively interact with all levels of personnel is essential.Proficiency with Aderant-Compulaw or comparable database is a plus.Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and PDF software is required.Overtime may be required.

The Expected

salary range for this position is:California Major Markets* $80,000 - $105,000New York City $80,000 - $105,000National $75,000 - $95,000

  • California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California

locations fall within National range.
