Overview

The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations Division is responsible for plant engineering, plant energy and utility operations, and facility operations for the South campus and leased facilities, North Campus and Infrastructure Operations, the Physical Science facility, and the 300 Area. In addition, the Division oversees campus infrastructure such as fabrication and craft services, duplicating and mail services, re

locations, receiving, distributed services, and maintains operations of roads, grounds, and utilities for the campus.

Bargaining Unit

Weekly Pay: $1,188.26This is a bargaining unit position and will be under the Battelle/HAMTC Collective Bargaining Agreement. As a condition of employment, unless otherwise exempted, the staff member will be required to join the appropriate union affiliated with the Hanford Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) after 30 days of continuous service and pay union dues or pay agency fees to such union in lieu of joining.The preferred candidate will be required to work onsite.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate(s) may be required to perform any, all, or some of the following job

duties, depending on business needs, which vary and are subject to change at any time:

Perform complex and diverse stores and warehouse activities involving a broad knowledge of receiving, disbursing, and shipping material.Performs work such as filling material orders, answering inquiries regarding stock and shipment, arranging for special deliveries, investigating complaints, locating lost shipments, maintaining storage yards, performing inventories, transferring materials, marking and identifying materials storage bins and/or racks, assisting in the storage, packaging and shipping of hazardous materials, etc. Operate forklifts, order pickers, carts, etc. Involved in warehouse operations and utilizes computers and automatic data processing equipment in the performance of the above functions.Operate truck and trailer equipment, such as dump truck having a truck measure capacity including sideboards or other apparatus which increases the capacity to less than six (6) yards; two-axle flat bed or water truck; box truck, forklift (6-ton to less than 12-ton); farm tractor and related equipment; towing of trash trailer with two-axle truck; load and unload vehicles, etc. Make minor repairs incidental to driving, such as wiper fluid, blades, etc.Perform all work required to maintain landscaped grounds including, but not limited to: lawns, planters, trees, flowers and shrubs. Operate associated grounds care equipment. Develop and maintain methods and procedures necessary for the safe and cost-effective care of landscaped grounds, sprinkler systems, grounds care equipment, chemicals, fertilizers and materials.Train and direct others.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

High School

education or equivalent is required. This must be reflected in the resume submitted.Valid State and Commercial Driver’s License, current medical certificate, and a good driving record required.

Preferred Qualification

Ability to utilize computers proficiently and programs such as the full suite of Microsoft Applications.Prefer

skills in utilizing electronic work request systems/tracking for tablets or Smartphones.Lawn and landscape maintenance

experience, including operation of hand and power tools/gas powered equipment (string trimmers, lawnmowers, backpack blowers, edgers, leaf vacuums, etc.).Ability to complete tasks while working with minimal on-site supervision.Prior

experience working in a team environment.

Hazardous Working Conditions/environment

Position may be subjected to working around radiation, chemicals, asbestos, lasers, dust, carcinogens, and other material in a laboratory environment.Job assignments may involve working near hazardous materials such as nuclear, fissionable, and dangerous waste.Working near or with hazardous materials such as Asbestos, Beryllium, Magnetic Fields, or Radiological Areas.Must be able to safely and effectively utilize all tools, materials, and equipment common to the trade.This position is subject to changing to shift

work schedule if the need arises.

Due to business needs and client space, US Citizenship is required.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is subject to the Department of Energy Unclassified Foreign National Access Program site, information, technologies, and equipment access

requirements.

Testing Designated Position

This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The candidate selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing for illegal drugs, including marijuana, consistent with the Controlled Substances Act and the PNNL Workplace Substance Abuse Program.

To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.
