The Director of Application Engineer will work as a bridge between customers and engineering teams in performing equipment sizing and selections per customer specifications and assist in the preparation of formalized proposals. The Director of Application Engineer interfaces with sales in determining optimal solutions (i.e., modifying existing designs and technologies) for our customers, which is directly connected to the company’s bottom line.

Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of application engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Develop and execute the strategic vision for the application engineering department in alignment with the Company's overall objectives.Manage the execution of application engineering projects, including resource al
location, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.Interface with Sales Managers, P&L Leaders, Project Engineers, Project Managers, Electrical and Controls Engineers, and with Service Engineers and Technicians to help develop formalized proposals.Design systems and size and select equipment such as chillers, pumps, motors, basic instrumentation, etc. by reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.Review and evaluate customer specifications and draft deviations/exceptions lists.Seek equipment quotes and develop package costing. Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems or processes to develop package costs.Help draft the proposal, with a particular focus on the technical scope and exceptions. Analyze designs and systems for compliance with NEC, NFPA, and other relevant codes.Act as a technical advisor to clients, providing expertise on product capabilities, customization options, and engineering solutions to address specific project needs.Other

Job
Skills
10 years of
experience performing engineering calculations, and equipment sizing/selections for mechanical systems (i.e. chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, cooling towers, coils), preferably in the datacenter industry.10 years of
experience with industrial HVAC, energy service contracting (ESCO) or central refrigeration plant
experience.Advanced
experience defining systems using simulation software, such as, Ansys, AFT & GT Pro;Advanced
experience reviewing client specifications and drafting exceptions;Advanced
experience with compliance analysis of NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE and other relevant codes;
Experience with manufacturing processes of mechanical systems;Demonstrated proficiency in drafting with AutoCAD;Demonstrated proficiency in technical and proposal writing;Advanced user of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and especially Excel)10% international and domestic travel required.
Education & Training
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required.10 years of
experience as an Application Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related position
Physical
Requirements/work Environment
Position is at least 80% to 95% at a desk working with computer. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity
requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
